North Central Washington (Chelan and Douglas Counties) is connected to I-90 via U.S. 97 over Blewett Pass, or via U.S. 28 and 281 through Quincy intersecting with I-90 at the George Interchange. U.S. 97 links the area North to Canada (140 miles) and South through central Oregon to I-5 at Weed, California (536 miles).

Commercial Airports
Pangborn Memorial Airport is a regional commuter airport located in East Wenatchee in Douglas County, approximately 6 miles from downtown Wenatchee. Horizon Air , in partnership with Alaska Airlines, flies 5 flights daily departing from Wenatchee to Seattle, and 5 flights daily arriving in Wenatchee from Seattle.

Horizon Air's fleet of Dash 8 aircraft are equiped with state-of-the-art MLS (Microwave Landing System) which allows pilots to land with as little as 550 feet of visibility.

Charter flights are also available through Executive Flight , and Wings of Wenatchee, all based at Pangborn Memorial Airport, and Chelan Airways in Chelan.

Public Transportation

Since 1991, Link bus service has provided public transportation to residents and visitors in Chelan and Douglas Counties. Link operates 14 fixed routes with approximately 45 vehicles, providing service to 19 communities along the Columbia and Wenatchee Rivers. Link operates Monday through Friday, 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. The fare for a one-way trip within or between Wenatchee and East Wenatchee, or from there to Cashmere, Entiat, Malaga, Orondo, or Rock Island is 50 cents (one-zone trips). The fare for longer distance trips between Wenatchee and Chelan, Leavenworth, or Waterville is $1 (two-zone trips). Guest transfers are availalbe and valid for 90 minutes, but may not be used to return to the point of origin. Monthly passes are available for $18 for a one-zone pass and $36 for a two-zone pass.

Link works directly with businesses in the area to determine how they can work the bus schedules into the needs of the businesses workers. Generally, customizing a bus schedule is possible for the larger employers in the area -- with 100 employees or more, however, there are often buses available that could serve the needs of employees of smallers companies.

Columbia Station is the the main transfer center for all Link routes that terminate in Wenatchee. This facility was completed and put into operation in July of 1997. Columbia Station is the culmination of over five years of planning and is recognized nationally as a model of multi-modal facilities. Columbia Stations allows travelers to make safe, convenient connections between Amtrak, Trailways, and Link, and have access to shuttle service to Pangborn Airport.
